On this page my rabbits introduce themselves to you and explain a little bit about their lives before they came to live with us. Over the years my rabbits have been blessed with many (mad) aliases. Some of the names have explanations, some are just plain silly.

Hi, I'm Winnie the wink but you can call me Winkle. My main hobbies include trying to eat cat biscuits and human food, sticking my nose in places it shouldn't be and biting the bottom out of bin bags.

I came to live with the two legs 5 years ago when they decided to adopt me from my previous owner who thought it would be kinder to find me a new life because their children weren't that interested in me anymore and they thought I should be with a family that would pay me lots of attention.

When the two legs bought me home I met a nice rab called Bunyip but unfortunately he wasn't very well and he died soon after I came to stay. Mum says he had a calcium stone in his bladder but he didn't survive the operation because his bladder didn't stitch back up properly and it made him all ill. Even though mum and dad rushed him to the emergency vet it was no good and he died. It's a shame I never got to live with him and mum says she is really sad that he never had a rabbit friend to hang around with and realises now that he must have been quite lonely although he was a houserabbit, so he did get lots of attention mum thinks rabbits should have rabbit friends and I agree.

Mum decided that I shouldn't live alone but was unsure about getting another rabbit until she met Jasper - you can meet him below...

I have a lovely life living as a houserabbit with my friends Jasper and Alberta and even though I am a nosey bag and get up to lots of trouble mum and dad love me very much.

Hey, I'm Rooney the Rooster. I was a petshop bunny. One day mum went to visit a garden centre and went into the pet bit to check all the animals had shade and water coz it was a really hot day. She looked in at me and saw me sitting there with my nose twitching away at top speed in the heat. I thought I was going to go home with her there and then because of the look in her eyes but she went away and I was sad to have been left behind.

Two days later one of the petshop people came and put a 'reserved' sticker on my hutch. I didn't really understand what that meant and was a bit scared. A few hours later mum turned up and they put me in a box and then it all went dark....we seemed to move along for a while and then stop and then it got light again. I got put in a hutch and didn't recognise the stuff around me - I could also smell a lady rabbit close by. After I had been here a little while mum took me to the vets and I had an operation - I was really scared but mum told me that it would mean I could meet the lady rab that I could smell.

A few weeks after my operation I got to meet Chinny and we hit it off straight away. I thought she was the most beautiful rabbit I had ever twitched my whiskers at and she thought I was handsome and just like a wild rabbit. Mum says she knows she shouldn't have got a rabbit from a petshop when there are thousands of rabbits in rescues who need homes but she made the mistake of feeling sorry for me and then couldn't get me off her mind. I'm glad she came back to get me but I know that meant there was a space made free for another rabbit to be sold which isn't good.

We now also live with Alberta who I really adore. Mum says that she's glad that me and Chinny accepted Alberta into the family because she recently lost her companion Morris and mum was worried she would pine for him and be lonely.

Albi-skwirter, Skwirty-werter, Werter, Werty, Wert, Bert

Hi, I'm Alberta but my friends call me Skwirter. I'm famous for my white nose which is now known in the trade as a 'Skwirty nose'. If one of your rabbits has a white spot somewhere then it should be named after me you see - so it should be a 'Skwirty foot' or a 'Skwirty ear' etc....you get the idea! Check out my Skwirty look-a-like competition here...Skwirty Nose...

I originally came from a Rabbit Rescue called Bobtails. Mum and dad decided to adopt me to partner up with Morris who was one of the '72 dutch bunnies' that Bobtails rescued a little while ago. Mum and dad started out fostering Morris but they fell in love with him and decided to adopt him and then me to live with him. We lived in a really cool kid's wendy house with an attached run and it was fab. We had platforms and stuff in the wendy house to jump up on and it was the bestest place to be.

In August this year (2006) Morris got really poorly and had a bad stomach. Mum was really worried and took him to see the emergency vet but despite their best efforts Morris died in her arms as soon as mum got him back home. We were all really really upset and mum left Morris with me for a while so that I could say goodbye to him and get used to the idea that he had died. I felt very sad and lonely and mum decided the best thing to do was to take me, Chinny and Jasper to Aunty Lorna's to see if she could bond us all together so I wouldn't be lonely. After a bit of chasing from Jasper we all decided we quite liked eachother and that it would be good to live together. When we got home mum and dad had re-decorated our room and it's really lovely to live in now. We are lucky bunnies to be living indoors and have a whole room devoted to us - thanks dad!

What-ho! What's your rank soldier? Charlie Big Potatoes here - I'm the one in charge. You might recognise me and the 'ol lady from The Little Warrens logo? I'm famous you know.

I used to live with a family who didn't really care for me atall. It took Aunty Lorna a long time to persuade them that they should give me up to a family who care but thankfully one day that's what they did. Mum and dad fostered me and in the evenings they would let me come and sit on the sofa with them. I used to repay them for their kindness by giving them a licky face and also plucking some unruly eyebrows!

Unsurprisingly enough they decided they would keep me because I am so charming and they found me the most beautiful young filly to live with. Her name is Bella and she has the most lovely long hair - what a stunner - 'you lucky old boy Taters' I thought....You can see her in all her glory below.

I like to spend most of my days now perfecting my bunker - be sure to check it out when you pass by our house.

Cheerio. Be sure to report to me for duty on your arrival!

Bella

Hello, pleased to meet you. I'm Bella.

Last year I was rescued from my dismal life by a pair of two legs called Lorna and Jamie from Green Fields Rescue. They were tipped off that there were a load of us being mistreated and abused and in desperate need of help.

Until then I was living out in the street and eating any scraps that I could get my paws on to survive. I didn’t like to go back to where I was living because they used to badly abuse me and they once even cut half my lovely long ear off with a pair of scissors!

There were so many of us that they rescued that most of us went off to live with foster parents who kindly looked after us until Green Fields had space to take us back in to re-home. Because most of us were pregnant when we were rescued we needed to go to places that had plenty of room for our babies that were on the way.

My foster mum (Jo at The Little Warrens) was worried about me because I built a nest for my babies but then didn’t have them and she thought that there might be problems. I was so thin and poorly when I was rescued that they were all wondering whether I would be able to cope with having babies and whether the babies would be ok.

After much worrying by my foster mum, Lorna and Uncle Ivan the vet, they decided the best thing to do was to carry out a caesarean on me because Uncle Ivan thought one of my babies might have been in trouble. When they did the operation they found that the babies nearest the front of my womb were dead so the remaining living ones couldn’t make their way out. They delivered them all by caesarean and then put me somewhere quiet with my babies to recover.

I looked after my babies as best I could for a couple of days but one by one they all died. My foster mum told me that there was nothing we could have done to save them and that they all had something very wrong with them, probably due to how poorly I had been whilst I was pregnant. We were very sad that they died and mum left me with them for a little while so I could grieve for them and then she buried them all together in a nice spot in the garden.

After the ordeal with my health and my babies my foster mum decided that she couldn't bear to part with me and so she adopted me from Green Fields Rescue so I could live with her and she could take good care of me forever and find me a bunny buddy.

Now I like to concentrate on my new life with my Sugar Daddy Charlie Big Potatoes. We live together in a grand house in the garden and mum says it's no less than we deserve. I don't like to think about my old life too much and prefer to concentrate on sleeping, eating and sunbathing without having to worry about what's going to happen to me next.
